Prison Ministry and Book Distribution

Recently Pastor Danette and the Joy Ministries’ Team visited the Chesapeake Correction Center and distributed over 1,000 copies of her new book, Don’t Quit in the Pit to the inmates. She also ministered to the female occupants at the jail, encouraging them never to quit no matter what situation or circumstance they may be facing.

In the middle of her book tour, the Lord spoke to Pastor Danette and told her not to forget those in prison. She has since said, “This has been the highlight of my entire book tour!” The women had received their books before she began to minister to them and they were clutching them to their chest with tears in their eyes. It reminded her of how those in other countries cling to their Bibles as though they were worth a million dollars.

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that jails and prisons are full of backsliders. While Pastor Danette shared with the women the Lord gave her a Word that there, in the jail, was a pastor’s daughter (a “PK”) who had fallen away from God. He was calling her back to Him. Afterwards the chief warden over all the ladies came up and confirmed this Word and pointed out the one the Lord was speaking of. A few weeks later this same chief attended one of Pastor Danette’s book signings. She said “Wow! It’s like I’m dealing with a whole new set of women. These ladies have been transformed!”

Pastor Danette will be visiting other jails in the Hampton Roads area spreading hope and sharing the message of Don’t Quit in the Pit. We know that He will continue to move in a powerful way to change lives!
