For many children in our adopted neighborhoods, the Summer is merely a time to wander the neighborhood unsupervised, with nothing to do. Every summer, we plan and schedule activities for at-risk youth. These activities not only give the youth something constructive to do, but it also gives them an opportunity to learn more about Jesus and builds the foundation of the Word in their lives.

We recently took children to a local Vacation Bible Camp. Every morning, as we would arrive in our adopted neighborhoods to pick up children, our vehicles were so full that we had to turn children away. For many children, Vacation Bible Camp has been the highlight of their Summer so far. They looked forward to the camp because they got to sing worship songs, learn about the Word of God, do crafts, and play games. For many "church" kids, Vacation Bible camps are an expected part of their Summer routine, but for the children in our adopted neighborhoods, it is a real treat as the majority of their families do not even attend church.
