• Students who meet regularly with a mentor are 52 percent less likely than their peers to skip school and 37 percent less likely to skip a class. They are 46 percent less likely than their peers to start using illegal drugs and 27 percent less likely to start drinking and one-third less likely to hit someone. Joy Ministries' Stay In School Mentoring program mentors young men and women until the completion of high school. For many at-risk children, graduating is difficult when surrounded by the financial strain that is on their family. Joy Ministries mentoring program changes the lives of youth by giving them a $1,000 incentive to graduate and by helping them to develop their life upon standards of integrity. It also changes their life as it gives them someone to talk to about the issues that they face in their daily life.
